Who we are

The Buddha's rice, traded the honest way.

Siddharthnagar is no ordinary district. Within it lies ancient Kapilavastu — capital of the Shakya kingdom and home of Prince Siddhartha, the Buddha. Excavations at Piprahwa (Aligarhwa) tie this very soil to his life; the Chinese traveller Fa Hien wrote of the region's remarkable rice; and legend holds that the Buddha himself gave villagers these grains, telling them to sow them in the marshy lands.

That rice is Kala Namak — black husk, pearl-white kernel, unmistakable aroma — today protected by Geographical Indication Tag No. 205 and honoured as the official One District One Product of Siddharthnagar.

Kala Namak Rice Co. exists to take this heritage to the world: we buy paddy directly from registered farmer groups in the GI belt, mill, sortex-sort, lab-test and pack it in-district, and supply it — with basmati, sona masoori, parboiled and specialty rices alongside — in bulk lots of 100 kg and above to wholesalers, brands and export buyers.

  • Kala Namak first — the hero of every consignment
  • Paddy procured directly from farmer producer groups
  • GI-belt sourcing declaration with every Kala Namak lot
